My Apple Mac is Beeping At Me!

First Steps

If you are experiencing problems with your Apple Mac there are a few simple steps you should check before calling a technician or taking your Apple Mac to your local Apple Centre.

1. Dont Panic!

2. Restart the machine - it is truly amazing how many problems this fixes! If you are having problems turning off your computer as you can not use the mouse to select anything and it seems you machine has completely stopped responding to anything, press down on your computers power button for at least 5 seconds, this should always turn off your machine (you will loose any un-saved work by doing this).

3. Check that you power source is okay. Plug you Apple Mac into a known working power outlet. Double check this by plugging in a lamp or another simple piece of electronics to test exactly the same outlet.

4. Remove all external devices that are plugged directly into the Apple Mac (apart from your keyboard and mouse) then restart the system. A faulty piece of external equipment can affect your Apple Mac and any software it may be running.

5. If you can turn on and access your system, click on the Apple icon (top left hand side of your screen) and navigate down to Software Update, click on this and following the onscreen instructions fully update your Apple software.
